Treatment for pediatric brain tumor; NeST Group and Geojit join hands with Aster’s Head Start
Kochi: Kerala’s leading companies NeST Group and Geojit will associate with Head Start, a paediatric brain tumour initiative launched by Aster Medcity, to facilitate the education and treatment of brain-tumour affected children, who come from low-income families. NeST Group and Geojit have handed over their financial aid to the programme during a function held at Aster Medcity the other day.
Head Start, an independent initiative established under the Aster DM Foundation, has ensured financial aid to several students within a short span of time post its launch recently. The initiative aims at providing comprehensive support to patients and their families through treatment, periodic post-treatment reviews, counselling and educational assistance. The initiative’s other main goals include awareness about paediatric tumours and its early detection and promoting research on the disease with the help of medical fraternity within India and abroad.
The funds for the Head Start’s functioning is sourced through Corporate CSR funds, international conferences and association with other companies/establishments. Many companies have already joined hands with Head Start, which was launched in February, and Aster expects cooperation from more companies.
Farhan Yasin, Regional Director, Aster Hospitals (Kerala and Oman Cluster), said that the hospital has launched the initiative out of the thought that the high cost of brain tumour treatment should not endanger the lives of children hailing from poor families. He also said that joining hands with two major companies, which have marked their signature in the industrial map of the state, will further boost Head Start’s activities. Besides ensuring advanced treatment for the children, Head Start highlights Aster’s established goal to ensure that nobody suffers due to lack of proper medical treatment, he said.
CJ George, Chairman, Geojit, said that the company has associated with Aster Medcity earlier too for various charity initiatives. He said that Geojit was extremely happy to be a part of Head Start, which is an initiative to save the lives of children.
Nazneen Jehangir, Executive Director, NeST Group, said that being a mother she was proud to be part of a mission to save the lives of children. She said that NeST Group will ensure all support to the initiative.
