Jaipur, 17 June: As part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the 3-day 'Art of Crochet' workshop began today at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK). In the workshop, the nuances and basics of crochet are being taught by Ms Babina Bhardwaj. The workshop is being organised from 10 am to 12 noon in JKK's Graphic Studio-1 till 19 June. The first day of the workshop began by teaching the participants how to hold the crochet and the crochet thread. After this, they were given basic information about the number of crochet to be used, which thread to use, with which hand to hold the crochet, with which hand to run the thread, the positions of the fingers, etc. During this, Additional Director General (Administration), JKK, Ms Anuradha Gogiya also understood the basics of crochet.
The Director of the workshop, Ms Babina Bhardwaj said that in the workshop, participants will be further taught about chain stitch, basic stitch such as single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, etc. She said that it is very important to learn the basic stitch of crochet as one can create any desired design with it. She further added that the objective of this workshop is to keep alive the tradition of our grandmothers and to carry forward the legacy of this traditional artwork.
