Thiruvananthapuram: At the ex-servicemen's family reunion held at Neyyatinkara Swadesabhimani Hall, NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar pledged to erect a memorial for Kargil war hero Jerry Prem Raj, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
Captain Jerry Prem Raj, a valiant soldier, bravely defended the Indian border during the Kargil conflict, laying down his life to repel terrorists and reclaim our land. Chandrasekhar, speaking at the event, emphasized his commitment to addressing the concerns of ex-servicemen, drawing inspiration from his father's military service.
Chandrasekhar highlighted his past efforts, recalling his advocacy for the 'National War Memorial' in Delhi, which now stands as a testament to the sacrifices of soldiers in the independent India. He reaffirmed his dedication to ensuring that soldiers receive the respect they deserve, both in life and in memory.
During the reunion, Chandrasekhar received a petition from Lata and Nikhil Albin, urging for the release of Albin Josin, who has been detained in Ivory Coast for three years. Chandrasekhar assured them of his support and vowed to pressure the Foreign Ministry for Josin's release.
The event was attended by Major Ravi, Colonel Dinny, and Jerry Prem Raj's mother Chella Thayee, along with members of Akhil Bharatiya Purva Sainik Seva Parishad Neyyattinkara Taluk Sthaniya Samithi.
