Jaipur, 13 January: The Covid pandemic, which was one of the worst in history, was managed effectively because of digitalisation. In all parts of the world, the information pertaining to the area of spread of the disease, precautions to be given, medications to be given etc. were shared worldwide within no time. This rapid spread of information played a pivotal role in the management of Covid. There cannot be a better example of 'Embracing Technologies, Transforming Lives' which is the theme of the conclave. This was stated by the Chairman of Rajasthan Small Industries Corporation (RSIC), Mr. Rajiv Arora. He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the 7th edition of Digital Rajasthan Conclave today in Jaipur, organised by FICCI Rajasthan.
Mr. Arora further said that the Rajasthan Government has opened more than 400 new knowledge centres for digital literacy. About 9.50 lakh learners have learnt through these centres. Furthermore, computer labs have been established in more than 10,000 secondary/senior secondary schools of the State under PPP scheme. He also emphasized on the fact that 40,000 files have been made online under 'smart functioning campaign'. Now it is possible to track the movement of the files through Rajkaj software.
The Commissioner of Industries & Commerce, Mr. Mahendra Kumar Parakh, said that the digital transformation is apparent with a whopping 80 crore internet users. Rajasthan has taken the lead in the adoption of technology pertaining to digitalisation. It is not surprising therefore, that it is fast becoming the IT hub of the country. He also said that Rajasthan is the prominent investment destination owing to its geographical location, being peaceful and already being a cultural and heritage centre.
The Commissioner of the Bureau of Investment Promotion, Dr. Manisha Arora, said that in the recently held Invest Rajasthan Summit, MoUs and LOIs worth Rs. 10 lakh crores were signed. She said that Rajasthan today has a very effective single window clearance system. The one stop shop (Rajnivesh Portal) has clearance facilities for as many as 14 departments. The MSME sector also received a boost because of such an effective single window system.
The Director of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), Mr. Paritosh Dandriyal, said that there are 63 STPI centres PAN India. The idea is to promote the IT industry in tier 2 and tier 3 cities so that the youth do not have to move to bigger cities and the small cities can also be developed.
Setting the context, Chairman, FICCI .
Rajasthan Sub-Committee on IT & Start-ups, Mr. Bimal Patwari, said that the application of the latest technology is no longer a buzz word. It is happening in our everyday lives. Today, 79% of the population is already connected with the internet. The maximum impact of digitalisation has been in sectors like healthcare, transportation, agriculture, publishing etc. However the challenge of digitalisation is that we need to re-train and re-deploy the workforce. There is also a need to change the curriculum of various institutes befitting this change.
Chairman, FICCI Task Force on Multilingual Internet & Universal Acceptance, Mr. Ajay Data said that digitalisation has completely changed the world. Giving examples, he said that the biggest taxi service provider like Uber does not own a single taxi, the biggest hotel service providers like Airbnb and Oyo don't own a single hotel, and similarly Zomato and swiggy are delivering food nationwide despite not owning a single restaurant. He further said that 5G will make a huge impact in transforming our lives. All sectors are getting impacted by digital technology today, faster than one can imagine.
