Jaipur, 3 December: Draping sarees has become a lifelong passion for me. I am simply in love with my sarees. There is not a day where I don't attempt to drape a saree in a new way. This was stated today by India's leading celebrity saree draper, and a world record holder in draping, Dolly Jain. She was in conversation with Co-founder, Jewel Saga, Sonal Sawansukha as part of the event 'A December to remember' at the Diona in Jaipur. The event was inaugurated by Jayshree Periwal, Founder of the Jayshree Periwal Group of Schools.
Narrating her fascinating saga of draping sarees, Jain said, at one time, she hated wearing sarees herself. However, with the passage of time, she fell in love with the art of draping and it became an intense passion with her. Later she made this a profession and today has a record of 325 different styles of draping a saree. She can drape a saree in an astounding 18.5 seconds as well. Jain is also coming out with a coffee table book which will have 366 styles of draping a saree. She has draped sarees for well known personas like Deepika Padukone, Alia Bhatt and Nita Ambani. Padukone is her favourite and she draped a saree for her at the Cannes Film Festival as well. On reply to a question, she said that she herself was her biggest inspiration.
The event was attended by over 200 notable women of Jaipur. There was also a scintillating jewellery display by Jewel Saga. The whole process of jewellery making - designing, ghaat making, setting, enamelling and beading had also been displayed. On this occasion, there was also a display of outfits and accessories by designer Payal Singhal. The event also had feet tapping live music.
