New Delhi, 3rd June, 2022: In an exclusive interview to ABP News’ iconic show ‘Press Conference’, Maulana Mahmood Madani, president of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, said that “...there is a growing feeling, (amongst Muslims) that if this situation continues then they will soon become second grade citizens in India.” On being asked who did he hold primarily responsible for this, whether he felt that it was the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who should be accountable, the Maulana replied “If this is the situation today, then it is the current government that has to take responsibility and if the Prime Minister is Modi then yes he will be in focus.”

Maulana Madani speaking on the Gyanvapi issue, said “I just want to say two things – in any civilised society, there are two ways of resolving conflicts and differences. One way is through reconciliation and other method is through the courts. What is happening now is that, people are indulging in cock-fights. We believe that the correct path should be chosen to resolve the issue.”
On being asked, if he thinks the Prime Minister should speak on this issue, the Maulana replied “Speaking won’t be enough he has to do something”
Maulana Mahmood Madani critical of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s attitude towards the Muslims of India said “Muslims of India are a dissatisfied lot and they hold PM Modi responsible for them feeling this way.”
On being asked if Muslims are happy under PM Modi’s dispensation, to which Maulana Madani’s relied, “Unhappy”, when further probed if he held Prime Minister responsible, to which he replied, “of course”
