Jaipur, 4 May: Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) will be organising the play 'Pagla Ghoda' as a part of the fortnightly theatre series. The play has been directed by Sabir Khan and written by Badal Sarkar. It will be staged on 6 May at 7 pm in Rangayan in JKK. Entry to the play is ticketed.
The play will tell the story of four men who will gather at a cremation ground at night for the funeral of a young girl. While waiting for the cremation of the corpse of the girl who has killed herself, the men entertain themselves by playing cards and drinking alcohol. As the night passes, the spirit of the young nameless girl stimulates and persuades them to tell their love stories. The men share their love stories which shed the light on their guilt-consciousness and remorse.
‘Pagla Ghoda’ is a popular Bengali rhyme in West Bengal about a wild and mad horse that signifies a force, out of control, unpredictable and terrible in its untamed beauty. The play will focus on men-women relationships and highlight the subjugation of a woman in a patriarchal system. It will explore relationships from four different socio-economic segments of society.
