Jaipur 23 April: The play 'Kenchuli' was staged under the fortnightly drama scheme today in Rangayan at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The play was based on a story by Padmashree Vijaydan Detha. It was directed by Nilesh Kumar Deepak and its playwright was Suman Kumar.
The story ‘Kenchuli’ explored the many unsettling issues of a woman's mind and offered self-realization of her own battles. The ending showcased the story of a woman who breaks the social shackles and becomes free like a snake, who roams in exile all over the world. The stories of Vijayadan Detha describe the problems of the common people, and their repressed desires, exposing the degenerative degradation of humanity and the ironic evils of society in a cosmic manner. It is a speciality of his works to present a beautiful composition by giving a human form to creatures other than humans by using stories, idioms, and folktales created in folk beliefs.
Paribhasha Mishra, Dilip Gupta, Rahul, Ganesh Gaurav, Pooja, Gaurav Kumar, Vaibhavi, Adil and Virat performed in the play. Along with this, music, vocals and Tabla were presented by Lakhan Lal Ahirwal, Harmonium by Satish Kumar, Sarangi by Anil Mishra and vocals by Rajeev Ranjan and Deepak Thakur.
