Jaipur, 7 April: Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) is all set to celebrate its 29th Foundation Day from 8 to 10 April with a myriad of artistic and cultural programmes. The festivities will be inaugurated by the Minister of Art and Culture, Government of Rajasthan, Dr B.D. Kalla at 10 am at JKK tomorrow (8 April). The Guest of Honour on the occasion will be the Principal Secretary, Art and Culture, Government of Rajasthan as well as the Director General of JKK, Mrs Gayatri Rathore.
On 8 April
On the first day of the festivities, 8 April, Doodle Wall Activity will be held from 10 am to 7 pm in the Dome Area. A street play, ‘Chalo Haath Dhote Hai’ directed by Raju Kumar and presented by Taabar Baal Basera, Jaipur will be staged at 10 am in the Dome Area. A 3-day painting exhibition will be held from 10.30 am to 7 pm at Parijat 1 & 2, Alankar, Sukriti and Sudarshan Galleries. Similarly, 3-day Portrait Making and Molela Pottery workshop will be held from 10.30 am to 5 pm at Graphic Studios 1 & 2. A documentary on the achievements of JKK will be screened at 11 am in Rangayan. This will be followed by the staging of a children’s play, ‘Totto Chaan’ directed by Sourabh Anant and presented by Vihaan Socio Cultural Wellbeing Society, Bhopal at 11.05 am in Rangayan.
In the evening, Open Mic Poetry will be organised on 8 April at 5.30 pm in the Indian Coffee House Area. Folk fusion performance by Indian Idol fame and Bollywood singer, Swaroop Khan Manganiyar from Mumbai will be organised at 7 pm at Madhyavarti.
On 9 April
On the second day of the celebrations, Doodle Wall Activity will be held from 10 am to 7 pm in the Dome Area. A painting exhibition will be held from 10.30 am to 7 pm at Parijat 1 & 2, Alankar, Sukriti and Sudarshan Galleries. Similarly, Portrait Making and Molela Pottery workshop will be held from 10.30 am to 5 pm at Graphic Studios 1 & 2.
In the evening, street play, ‘Chalo Haath Dhote Hai’ presented by Taabar Baal Basera, Jaipur will be staged at 5 pm in the Dome Area. The children’s play, ‘Totto Chaan’ presented by Vihaan Socio Cultural Wellbeing Society, Bhopal will be staged at 6.30 pm in Rangayan. A Ghazal performance will be rendered by Sa Re Ga Ma final winner, Mohammad Vakil from Jaipur at 7.30 pm in Madhyavarti.
On 10 April
On the concluding day, the morning will witness Doodle Wall Activity from 10 am to 7 pm in the Dome Area. The painting exhibition will be held from 10.30 am to 7 pm at Parijat 1 & 2, Alankar, Sukriti and Sudarshan Galleries. Similarly, Portrait Making and Molela Pottery workshop will be held from 10.30 am to 5 pm at Graphic Studios 1 & 2.
The festival will conclude with a fusion performance by India’s Got Talent fame, Ravindra Upadhayay from Jaipur at 7.30 pm will be presented in Madhyavarti.
Children's Theatre Workshop
A 4-day Children's Theatre Workshop for ages 3-7 years will be conducted from 7 & 8 April from 5 pm to 7 pm and on 9 & 10 April, the workshop will be held from 10 am to 12 noon in Krishnayan. This workshop is being organised for the first time.
Other Attractions
Apart from this, other major supporting performances will include Nagada, Kacchi Ghodi Tejaji, Jaadu Kala, etc. These performances will be held on 8 April at 10 am and on 9 & 10 April at 4 pm at the JKK venue. Other attractions during the celebrations will include more than 55 art experts presenting over 20 art forms, national and international level art film presentations, art installations as well as landscape painting photography competitions.
