Kochi: The Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association, Food Delivery App Resoy and Stenum Asia have cleared the waste at Puthuvaippu beach. GCDA Chairman K Chandran Pillai inaugurated the event. About 250 NSS volunteers from Marampally MES College, SCMS College of Management, SCMS College of Architecture and SCMS College of Engineering participated in the cleaning drive. The removed waste was sorted and sent for recycling.

The beaches are being cleared as part of a four-year project called Promise the Prevention of Marine Litter in the Lakshadweep Sea. The project, which started in 2020, will end in 2024. Apart from Puthuvype, waste from Kozhikode Kappad and Kollam beaches will also be removed.
