Chennai, March 31, 2022: Dettol Banega Swasth India (DBSI) launched India’s first hygiene focused music album- ‘Folk Music for a Swasth India’ in collaboration with renowned folk music band, Rais Khan Project. The album available to Spotify users across the globe, aims to inspire individuals to develop conscious hygiene practices through India’s rich folk music. With the launch of this album, Dettol Banega Swasth India is taking conducting an innovative social experiment towards integrating art and culture to deliver important hygiene/health messages.

DBSI is tapping into the country’s rich cultural heritage to raise awareness and drive the message of hygiene to millions of individuals especially children across India. Dettol X Rais Khan Project with this initiative hope to create best health and hygiene practices through folk art with a mission to create a ‘Swasth India’.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Gaurav Jain, Senior Vice President, South Asia, Reckitt said, "With Dettol Banega Swasth India we have been at the forefront of using innovative campaigns to promote positive hygiene behaviour by engaging with children. Dettol Banega Swasth India’s deep-rooted commitment to drive behaviour change by inculcating the right hygiene practices makes for an important narrative that has been brought alive by Rais Khan Project. ‘Folk Music for a Swasth India’ produced by Dettol and sung and composed by Ustad Rais Khan will reach listeners on Spotify globally, educating the younger generation on best health and hygiene practices rooted in folk art and heritage. Its uniquely curated songs focus on five key themes: Hygiene at Home, Personal Hygiene, Hygiene in School, Hygiene during Illness, and Hygiene in the Neighbourhood.

Ustad Rais Khan, Professional Percussionist and Folk Musician based out of Rajasthan, said “Music is a powerful medium. It helps us connect with people. It is most gratifying to use the power of our music to help children of our state and nation imbibe positive hygiene habits and stay healthy. We are grateful to Dettol Banega Swasth India for making this a reality for us.”

Dettol Banega Swasth India (DBSI) launched the album at an on-ground event with Govt of Rajasthan, Dept. of Education (Primary & Secondary), Sanskrit Education, Art, Literature, Culture, Archaeology & Museum on the occasion of Rajasthan Day.

Dr. Bulaki Das Kalla, Hon'ble Minister, Dept. of Education (Primary & Secondary), Sanskrit Education, Art, Literature, Culture, Archaeology & Museum, Govt. of Rajasthan launched Dettol X Rais Khan Project music album at Jawahar Kala Kendra Arts Centre in Jaipur today. At the launch event Dr. Kalla said, "Dettol Rais Khan Project folk music is a unique way to spread the message of hygiene. It is indeed a matter of pride to see Rajasthan’s rich music heritage being such a massive contributor towards health and hygiene upliftment.”

Dettol’s flagship Banega Swasth India program has been instrumental in creating awareness around hygiene and sanitation while empowering citizens with better health outcomes across the country. The campaign with its dedicated work in school education and nutrition interventions has improved the lives of over 20 million school kids in India till date, continuing to drive behaviour change leading to a healthier India.
