Young Indians (YI), Kolkata Chapter is The Youth Wing of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry). Spread across 55 chapters in the country, YI works towards the development of a better India through thousands of impactful projects and activities divided primarily into three areas; Youth Leadership, Nation Building and Thought Leadership
With the help of different NGO’s across the city, YI has initiated an empowering drive for sex workers and their children by supporting them with nutritious food, education, books and games along with planning recreational and entertaining activities for them. YI in collaboration with the NGO Udaan had organized a special screening of the popular movie Gangubai Kathiawadi at Inox, Forum Mall on 22nd March’22, Tuesday for 100 sex workers of Sonagachi.
Vaibhav Soni, Chair, Young Indians (YI), Kolkata Chapter says, “The main reason for doing this event is to destigmatize sex workers and their community. This is just one step forward to empowering the sex workers community and mobilizing strategies to promote their health and human rights. We hope to continue working for the betterment of the community by hosting more such events and raising awareness about it.”
