Jaipur, March 9: Day 1 of the 15th edition of JLF will begin tomorrow at Hotel Clarks Amer. The festival arenas from the previous editions will be held at the following venues at Hotel Clarks this year - Darbar Hall in the Conference Room, Baithak at the Pool Area, Mughal Tent at Brij Nest Lawn and Front Lawn at the Rama Bagh. The décor inspiration for JLF 2022 is festive colours of Rajasthan.
The festival will commence with yoga, meditation and morning music at the Front Lawn at 9:20 am followed by an Inaugural Ceremony. Renowned authors and festival directors, Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple will be present at the Inauguration along with Sanjoy Roy, MD Teamwork Arts. The keynote speakers at the ceremony will be renowned translator Mr. Harish Trivedi and US Diplomat and UN Resident Co-ordinator in India, Mr. Shombi Sharp. Day 1 of the Festival will host close to 30 sessions from 11 am to 6:30 pm with national and international authors, poets and filmmakers. The sessions held at Mughal Tent, Darbar Hall and Front Lawn will also be live streamed. This year JLF will be hosting a new series on biographies and day 1 will witness a session with the famous musician Remo Fernandes in conversation with Sanjoy Roy about his book ‘Being Remo’.
Close to 400 speakers are a part of this hybrid edition (online and offline) of JLF 2022 with close to 250 speakers being present for the offline/on-ground festival from March 10-14, 2022. The primary themes of JLF 2022 are – The Urgency of Borrowed Time to draw focus on the issue of climate change; and The 50th Anniversary of the 1971 War & creation of Bangladesh. Several books and writers from Bangladesh to be a part of the festival to commemorate the same.
Ample parking facilities have been put in place for JLF attendes this year. There will be 3 designated parking locations at – the Patrika Gate, ground on the right side of Hotel Clarks Amer; and the outer circle of Jawahar Circle.
