Jaipur, 25 February: Dance drama, ‘The Game of Dice from Mahabharat’ by renowned dancer and choreographer, Santosh Nair will be staged at Rangayan at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) tomorrow at 5 pm. This multi-media dance production has been curated by the Delphic Council of Rajasthan. The play tells the story of women empowerment rooted in traditions. It has been supported by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Rajasthan.
The production draws from ‘Kathakali’ with its rigorous, dramatic and vibrant outlook, ‘Mayurbhanj Chhau’ with its high energy, control and martial arts spirit as well as contemporary dance with its creativity and experimentation. The elements are brought together through the medium of an episode of the national epic of India, Mahabharata. 'The Game of Dice' has a fantastic breadth of vision, a riveting plot and a compelling dramatic structure. Similarly, it also has complex but real characters and wisdom with messages relevant even today.
It has been choreographed by Santosh Nair, music has been provided by Sharat Chandra and light design by Gautam Bhattacharya. The Production Executive is Nalini Sharma.
