The most awaited and auspicious festival of Durga Puja is here to celebrate victory of good over evil. This Durga Puja also brings amongst us new hopes and dreams, after almost two horrendous years of the pandemic. At a time when eco-friendly celebrations have become the mantra, Flury’s, legendary tearoom on the fashionable Park Street in Kolkata, recently unveiled a 4ft Durga idol that is made completely out of edible chocolate. This Chocolate Durga is Flury’s tribute to one of the greatest festivals on earth celebrated with the greatest fervour in Calcutta. It has been carefully crafted by the skillful and brilliant Chef Vikas Kumar and his talented team of expert chocolatiers. It took them almost a week to curate the entire chocolate sculpture which will be on display till Diwali and will be immersed in milk for 'bisharjan' post pujas. The idol weighs 25kgs and has intricate gold detailing done by edible gold dust.
