Jaipur : The Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot, agreed to provide the benefits of the industry status to the tourism sector, long pending since 1989. It was in this year that the industry status was declared for the sector. He gave directions to the Chief Secretary, Niranjan Arya, to see that the benefits are provided. Similarly, he also agreed to the proposal of the setting up of the Tourism Promotion Council of Rajasthan by FHTR. Both these proposals had been mooted by the Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of Rajasthan (FHTR) at a virtual meeting convened by the Government under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister on the occasion of World Tourism Day on Monday. The President of FHTR, Apurv Kumar had made the presentation, representing the private stakeholders.
Mr Kumar said that providing the industry status benefits to the sector would give a huge boost to tourism in the State. The CM also agreed to the proposal of the formation of the Tourism Promotion Council of Rajasthan by FHTR along with the State Department of Tourism under his leadership. The Council will provide an umbrella not only to tourism units but also to those who are indirectly associated with the industry. This would include craftsmen, tour guides, cab drivers, etc.
Kumar also informed that the digital promotion campaign of the FHTR has already begun. This digital campaign by FHTR is focussing on various aspects of hospitality and travel in Rajasthan and has begun with the highly relevant topic of eco-tourism. It will talk further about the various aspects of tourism in Rajasthan like equine tourism, responsible travel, eco-friendly modes of transport, cycling tours, wildlife tourism, indigenous foods and experiences, as well as village travel and homestays in the real Rajasthan. FHTR will also set up skill training centres in rural areas to benefit the grassroots levels.
