Jaipur : Photo exhibition ‘Spaces in Spaces Un framing Jawahar Kala Kendra' began at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) today. The exhibition will be open for public viewing till 27 September from 11 am to 7 pm in the Surekh and Sukriti Galleries in JKK. The exhibition celebrating the different spaces of JKK has been conceptualised and features the works of a group of photographers – ‘Kathago’. These photographers are – Suman Sarkar, Anjali Shekhawat, Arvind Jodha, Jainish Vig, Rahul K. Rajoriya, Rajesh Jamaal and Vipul Sokhiya.
On the occasion, the group ‘Kathago’ said: “We keep hearing that photography is a dying art and is turning into digital dust. People are clicking photographs but they are not being printed. Through ‘Kathago’ we recognised the need to print photographs. Any space we live in witnesses occurrences and incidents over time. So we kept documenting such incidences and events. That is the reason why ‘Kathago’ is not recognised by any individual but as a united experience of us all. Printing a photograph has a different aroma. All of us at ‘Kathago’ have a deep affinity for Jawahar Kala Kendra. We aim to encourage others to click photographs and print them, have discussions and tell beautiful stories through them. We felt the occasion was right to pick up our cameras and document the incidents and occurrences around us.”
Exhibiting as many as 46 photographs, ‘Spaces in Spaces’ focuses on JKK’s limitless richness of spaces. The photographers behind the exhibition revel in JKK as a space that welcomes them and gives them the productive and creative push toward their photography. The photographers have captured different locations inside and outside JKK from different angles through their camera lenses. JKK is one such space that holds countless spaces within its architectural space.
