Kochi: Doraiswamy Venkiteswaran, Deputy High Commissioner – Sri Lanka, inaugurated Aster Aortic Clinic, one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the region. Aortic diseases are complex illnesses that can affect people at any age. Left untreated or not managed appropriately, they can become fatal, said Dr. Rohit P. V. Nair, Senior Consultant Interventional Radiology, Aster Medcity and Aster Medical Imaging.
Aster Aortic Clinic is one-of-its-kind multi-disciplinary center in Kerala for diagnosing and treating wide range of aortic conditions such as aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, aortic trauma, vasculitis to name a few.
It brings together interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons, cardiologists, cardiac anesthesiologists, critical care experts, and registered nurses to provide comprehensive patient care - medical, surgical, and radiologic services all under one roof. Aster Aortic clinic successfully completed treatment of 25 critical patients already. Backed by state-of-the-art technology and image-guided techniques, they provide high-precision, guideline-based treatment to patients with a multidisciplinary approach, said the hospital in a press statement.

Interventional Radiology, a medical sub-specialty of Radiology, is the minimally invasive and image-guided treatment of certain disease and conditions that may otherwise require an open surgery. The benefits of the procedure are tiny incision, lesser post-surgery pain, minimal blood loss, fewer post-surgical complications, faster recovery and shorter hospital stay.
Aster has consolidated its medical Imaging experts which includes interventional radiologist to form “Aster Medical Imaging”. The expertise of interventional specialist is also available beyond the hospital for second opinion and reporting services for Aortic disorders.
