Aster MIMS Kottakkal cardiology team performs live Balloon Embedded procedure
The Department of Cardiology at Aster MIMS Kottakkal has successfully performed a live Balloon Embedded procedure at the state conference of the Cardiological Society of Telangana. Balloon Embedded Technique is a novel procedure that helps to perform even the complicated angioplasty in an easy and cost-effective way. Aster MIMS Kottakkal authorities said that it was recognition for the cardiology department at the hospital, which had made great achievements in the Balloon Embedded Technique.
The live procedure was performed on a patient with a major block in the heart. The medical team said that as it was not possible to perform bypass surgery due to some other reasons, angioplasty was the only option. Angioplasty required three stents. But the patient needed only one stent as balloon embedded angioplasty was performed using sophisticated technologies and equipment.
Doctors said the Balloon Embedded technique is very useful for patients who cannot undergo bypass surgery. The advantages of the procedure include less hospital stay, speed recovery and less bleeding. Dr. Tehsin Neduvancherry, Chief Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, said that it was a great recognition and achievement to perform the procedure in front of prominent doctors in the country. Dr. Suhail Muhammed, Consultant, Interventional Cardiologist; Dr. Jenu James Chakkola, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist, were also part of the medical team.
