Thiruvananthapuram: The ASAP Kerala Chess Championship, held in collaboration with Canara Bank and the Thiruvananthapuram Chess Association, concluded with a resounding success, leaving a trail of budding chess enthusiasts showcasing their strategic prowess. The championship, aimed at fostering sports interest among students and honing problem-solving and analytical skills, witnessed enthusiastic participation from across categories.
Dr. Usha Titus, CMD of ASAP Kerala, inaugurated the championship in the esteemed presence of Keshava Murthy, Divisional Manager at Canara Bank, and Rajendran Achari, Secretary of the Trivandrum Chess Association.
The competition featured three categories: Open Tournament, Under 19 Open Tournament, and Under 19 Girls Tournament, each offering a platform for young minds to showcase their strategic acumen.
In the Open Senior category, Arshad P, Arjun S Anil, and Abhishek TM claimed the first three positions, demonstrating exceptional skill and determination. The Under 19 Girls category witnessed stellar performances from Ameya AR, Malha AK, and Advika BS, showcasing their talent and commitment. Siddharth Mohan, Akshay AR, and Anax Kanjiravila emerged victorious in the U-19 Open category.
The top four finishers in the U-19 Girls and U-19 Open categories earned direct entry to the state competitions, further propelling their chess journey. The winners of the championship were awarded a total prize money of Rs. 75,000.
