Thiruvananthapuram: The state tourism department has joined hands with the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, which was started with the goal of making Kochi a sports tourism hub. The second edition of the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, organised by Kochi-based CleoSportz, will be held on February 11.
Tourism Minister P. A. Mohammed Riyas assured wholehearted support for making the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon, which took the initiative to mark Kochi in the sports tourism map, a huge success. The assurance was given in a meeting the minister had with CleoSportz management. Mohammed Riyas also wished that the marathon would become the largest event in terms of participation in the future.
“The inclusion of a 2–3-day getaway alongside the Federal Bank Kochi Marathon is anticipated to emerge as a rising trend in the years ahead. This integration is set to amplify participation and solidify our aspirations of establishing Kochi as a prominent global sports tourism hub. Aligning with a powerful brand like Kerala Tourism is pivotal for advancing our journey towards this goal,” said Sabari Nair and Anish Paul - Directors of CleoSportz
Along with the 44.195km marathon, 21.097km half marathon, 10km run and 3km green run, #TheSpecialRun will be organised this year for physically challenged people and people with physical disabilities. The 1 km-long Special Run will be organised in association with Raksha Society. Indian as well as foreign athletes will participate in the marathon, according to CleoSportz.
