Defying Age Barriers: Seniors Lead the Way in Inspirational Walkathon on National Youth Day

Defying Age Barriers: Seniors Lead the Way in Inspirational Walkathon on National Youth Day

Calicut, January 15, 2024: Aster MIMS, Calicut, organized a walkathon exclusively for senior citizens. The event, held at the beach near the Municipal Office, saw the enthusiastic participation of over 100 individuals aged 60 and above, delivering a powerful message that age should never hinder the pursuit of a healthy and active lifestyle.

The Aster Respect community, an integral part of Aster MIMS, spearheaded this initiative with the primary objective of promoting health habits and wellness among senior citizens. The exercise session and walkathon were testimony to the belief that one's health can be safeguarded to achieve the aspirations of the mind, setting a commendable example for the younger generation.

"The program aimed to break stereotypes and showcase that age is not a barrier to leading a vibrant and healthy life. Through regular exercise, avoidance of unhealthy habits, and adherence to a well-balanced routine, individuals of all ages can maintain good health and well-being," said Dr. Nadeemu Rahman, Senior Specialist in the General Medicine Department at Aster MIMS, Calicut.

The walkathon was flagged off by senior Aster Respect Community members, retired Municipal Superintendent MP Neelakandan Nambeeshan, and retired Railway Senior Engineer PK Chandrasekaran.

Aster MIMS's Aster Respect Community is committed to developing similar programs aimed at enhancing the physical and mental health of senior citizens. The project, progressing through regular meetings, check-ups, and gatherings, seeks to create a supportive environment that fosters not only health but also artistic talents among senior citizens. Coordinator Suryadevi highlighted the significance of these groups in providing a platform for showcasing talents and seeking support from like-minded individuals.
