Jaipur, 14 October: The annual Primary Years Programme sports day at Jayshree Periwal International School was celebrated with enthusiastic fanfare on floodlit ground. The event commenced with the unfurling of the national flag, lighting of the athletics torch by the Chairperson, Dr Jayshree Periwal, sharing of annual sports report, and annual sports distribution. It was thrilling to watch parents engage with the pre-primary students in mini Olympics games like horse riding, football, etc. spread out in 20 arenas thus encouraging a love for sports from an early age. One of the main attractions was a variety of displays of students’ abilities in the form of Yoga, Acrobatics, Taekwondo followed by the school sports anthem. The budding students took part in numerous individual and team races like hurdle race, cheetah sprint, balance on cone, relay race, etc. The highlight of this year’s event was the thudding sound of Viking Clap to cheer the athletes and student cheerleaders to keep the motivation and energy high of the participants. The day ended with felicitation of the winners in different categories and awards for the best athlete, best house etc.
Chairperson, Jayshree Periwal Group of Schools, Dr. Jayshree Periwal was left marveled with the exceptional and diverse talent of the young sports students and stated that Sports Day in the IB PYP is a multifaceted event that goes beyond physical exercise. It embodies the core principles of fostering physical fitness, social and emotional development, inclusivity, and a strong sense of community. She further added that this celebration is also about growth—the growth of our students as they face challenges, their skills and confidence and through dedication and perseverance, have shaped into well-rounded individuals.
The elated parents emphasised on how this day teaches valuable life lessons about winning, that it is not just about crossing the finish line first, but about giving the best, regardless of the outcome. They thanked the school’s efforts in teaching these little children about the importance of teamwork, communication, and resilience.
