MENA’s popular streaming platform TOD is rolling out a selected set of exclusive movies for the entire family this Eid vacation. Covering a range of genres, including action, thriller, romance, animations, fantasy, comedy and drama, TOD has ensured its EID movie line up, with some of Hollywood’s biggest names, will entertain all ages.
Streaming from April 21 is the action-comedy ‘Bullet Train’ starring Brad Pitt which has been critically acclaimed for its original fight scenes. Nominated for two People’s Choice Awards, the modern classic follows the fortunes of unlucky assassin Ladybug (Brad Pitt) whose latest mission puts him on a collision course with lethal adversaries from around the globe – all with connected, yet conflicting, objectives and all while riding the world’s fastest train! This is one action loves will want to be part of.
Also streaming from April 21 is the fascinating biopic ‘Father Stu’ starring Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson. Full of raw emotions, the film tells the remarkable true story of boxer-turned-priest Father Stuart Long who went on to inspire countless people during his journey from self-destruction to redemption.
Young movie fans will be delighted with the streaming, with the spectacularly animated DC League Super SuperPets. Kids will laugh along the way as Super-Dog Krypto, an inseparable friend of superman who share the same powers and fight crime together in Metropolis. But when Superman and Justice League are kidnapped, Krypto convinces a ragtag group of animals to form a new league to pull off a rescue mission. But that’s not all, the powerful voice acting by Dwayne Johnson (Krypto), Kevin Hart (Ace), John Krasinski (Superman), and Keanu Reeves (Batman) aptly convey the message that friendship, teamwork and love is stronger than any superpower.
Another one for kids, the French animation movie, Pil’s Adventure, is a good family watch. The film tells the story of a spunky young girl who disguises herself as a princess in order to save the kingdom and the heir to the throne.
The romantic fantasy drama Three Thousand Years of Longing is a visual treat for the entire family. Based on the short story ‘The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye’ by A. S. Byatt , the film stars Idris Elba as a djinn who is unleashed from a bottle by a professor (Tilda Swinton) and tells her stories from his thousands of years of existence. The film has scooped a number of awards from the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts and received a six-minute standing ovation when it premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May last year.
For lovers of action crime thrillers, TOD brings Accident Man, starring Scott Atkins, Ray Stevenson, and David Paymer follows the journey of tough hitman Mike, who makes his hits look like accidents or suicide, as he teams up with a gang of highly individual hitmen, to track down and eliminate those responsible for the murder of his ex.
Sophisticated crime is the underlying theme of Sony Pictures Classic ‘Burnt Orange Heresy’. This is a wily tale of an ambitious art critic, James Figueras who is approached by a wealthy art collector, Joseph Cassidy to secure, by whatever means possible a painting by reclusive artist Jerome Debney who is living on his estate. The deal is that if Figueras can procure a Debney painting he can get an interview with the recluse, something no one has done for 50 years, and Cassidy will help Figueras's career. Getting the painting becomes an obsession for Figueras.
The action switches to 20th century England to the romantic drama Mothering Sunday, that won the Outstanding Female Led Feature at Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival. The drama centres around a maid living in post-World War I England who secretly plans to meet with the man she loves before he leaves to marry another woman.
“Our Eid movie line-up will enable all the family to celebrate this festival together with fantastic cinematic experiences,” said John-Paul McKerlie, VP Marketing & Sales, TOD. “It’s TOD way of wishing Eid Mubarak to all our valued subscribers.”
