India continues to progress on mobile speeds, witness 2 spots jump in rank globally from 69 last month to 67 in February 2023: Ookla Speedtest Global Index

- Median mobile download speeds in India increased from 29.85 Mbps in January to 30.96 Mbps in February

- India decreased two spots in rank globally for overall median fixed broadband speeds, from 79th in January to 81st in February

- Overall fixed median download speeds in India saw a slight increase from 50.02 Mbps in January to 50.87 Mbps in February

 

New Delhi, 20 March 2023: Ookla®, the global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights today released an update on the Speedtest Global Index for the month of February 2023. According to the Speedtest Global Index, in the month of February, India witnessed  a 2 spot in rank jump in median mobile download speeds globally from 69th in January to 67th in February 2023, making it a commendable performance by India in the past one quarter. In November, India ranked at 105th position, globally in median mobile speeds, as per Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index. Ookla also recorded 30.96 Mbps median mobile download speeds in February this year which is better than 29.85 Mbps in January 2023. 

However on median fixed broadband speeds, India decreased by two spots in rank from 79 in January to 81 in February. India’s performance in fixed median download speeds witnessed a slight increase from 50.02 Mbps in January to 50.87 Mbps in February 2023.

According to the February Speedtest Global Index, UAE retained its position on the chart for overall global median mobile speeds, whereas Ukraine increased 24 spots in rank globally. For fixed broadband download speeds, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has increased by12 spots in rank globally while Singapore is consistent at #1 spot this month. 

Ookla’s Speedtest Global Index ranks mobile and fixed broadband speeds from around the world monthly. Data for the Global Index comes from the hundreds of millions of tests taken by real people using Speedtest every month to test their Internet performance.
