Gratitude for exempting tourist luxury coaches from motor vehicle tax

STATE TOUR OPERATORS GET BIG RELIEF

Jaipur, 20 March.
In the recent budget announced by Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Gehlot, the decision has been made to exempt tourist luxury coaches authorized by the Department of Tourism, Rajasthan Association of Tour Operators (RATO) and Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) from Motor Vehicle Tax. Tour Operators Associations had written to the Tourism Minister, Mr. Vishvendra Singh, seeking exemption of Motor Vehicle Tax on Tourist Coaches (inbound business) for the period beyond 1 April 2023. Considering the continual demand and request by the tour operators, the State Government has decided to exempt from the motor vehicle tax.

RATO President, Mr. Mahendra Singh Rathore expressed satisfaction that this decision of the Government will not only boost tourism in the State but also provide relief to the tour operators of the State. He informed that earlier the Tourism Department along with the Transport Department had implemented 50% exemption on motor vehicle tax for the period between 2015 and 2019. But due to the slowing down of international tourism due to the COVID epidemic, the operation of air-conditioned luxury coaches operated for tourists had also come to a standstill. It was directly affecting the tour operators and was becoming difficult to bear the cost. On the request of the association, the Government has given a lifeline to the tour operators by deciding to exempt these vehicles from tax.

Appreciating the move of the State Government, RATO President, Mr. Mahendra Singh Rathore, along with RATO Chairman, Mr. Bhim Singh; Former President, Mr. Kuldeep Singh Chandela; General Secretary, Mr. Mohan Singh Mertia; Executive Committee member, Mr. Rajendra Singh Jodha; FHTR President, Mr. Apurv Kumar; IHHA President, Mr. Randhir Vikram Singh; Vice President, Mr. Khalid Khan and other members of the association have expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister, Mr. Ashok Gehlot and Tourism Minister, Mr. Vishvendra Singh.
