Chennai, March 2023: EQ India, the leading shareholder management Fin-tech company, inaugurated the renovated Hindu Primary School on Gandhi Street, Arumuganeri in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi District, on March 15. The inauguration ceremony was led by Anand Ramakrishnan, Managing Director of EQ India, in the presence of the school’s headmaster E. Marithangam and the Secretary, R. Sivasubramanian.
The renovation of the school building is part of EQ India's corporate social responsibility (CSR) outreach aimed at improving education and infrastructure in rural areas. The Hindu Primary School was identified by EQ India as being in urgent need of repairs. The renovation, which began in April 2022, involved the demolition of the existing structure due to its extremely dilapidated condition, which posed a risk to both students and teachers.
"At EQ India, we take our social responsibility seriously. Our team inspected the school initially and observed the structure was in poor condition, posing a risk to the safety of students and staff. In response, we took action and constructed three new classrooms and renovated the toilets, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff”. disclosed Mr. Anand Ramakrishnan, MD, EQ India. He also revealed that the company nominated four volunteers from the CSR committee who would regularly visit the site to inspect the project’s progression.
As the project advanced, EQ India ensured that funds were released promptly throughout the project's progress to prevent any payment delays, resulting in the completion of the project in January 2023. Complimenting the school, in particular, Headmaster E. Marithangam, who played a pivotal role in coordinating with the CSR committee, Mr. Ramakrishnan said, “This project demonstrates the commitment of EQ India to help improve India’s educational infrastructure in its smaller towns and cities, giving the students there the same facilities as available to their peers in bigger cities.”
