WelcomHeritage partners with SunFuel to install EV charging stations across its hotels

Ramping up active action to achieve sustainability goals, WelcomHeritage encourages responsible driveable holiday itineraries.

15 March 2023, Delhi NCR: In line with it’s responsible driving holiday narrative, WelcomHeritage Hotels, a joint venture of ITC Ltd. and Jodhana Heritage Resorts Pvt. Ltd., partners with SunFuel Electric, a prominent EV charging player to install charging stations across its hotels in India.

The agreement signing ceremony between Ms Gul Panag, Co-Founder at SunFuel and Mr Abinash Manghani, CEO of WelcomHeritage was held today, in Delhi NCR.

Abinash Manghani, CEO of WelcomHeritage Hotels shared details on the pathbreaking initiative and future plans,”By the year-end, we aim to successfully offer our guests responsible drivable itineraries from Delhi to our properties in Panchkula, Kasauli, Solan and Shimla. Adding to the feasibility and mindfulness of electric vehicles and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV), our guests will be able to enjoy the beautiful drives up to these WelcomHeritage destinations without the anxiety and stress of access to EV charging stations.”

Reinforcing the brand’s efforts towards sustainability, he further stated, “We are committed to actively supporting responsible holidays and Electric Vehicles are integral to the sustainability narrative of responsible travel.”

SunFuel Electric's Co-Founder Gul Panag, added, "We congratulate WelcomHeritage on their decision of becoming EV friendly. Electric road trips are going to be all the more exciting now!"

SunFuel Electric’s Founder & CEO Sudhir Nayak added, "Destination charging is an important pillar among the 3 pillars of EV Charging – City Charging, Highway Charging and Destination Charging.  If we have to catalyse the adoption of high-end electric vehicles in India, then luxury hotels and resorts need to be equipped with a seamless Destination Charging Experience. At SunFuel, we are striving to create that experience at scale.”

He added that a very visible charging infrastructure is required to encourage people to adopt electric cars. “The agreement with WelcomHeritage ensure that our slick chargers are deployed right at the glare of an incoming guest in a high-visibility zone of the hotel.”

Currently, travellers can drive their electric vehicles to WelcomHeritage Parv Vilas Resort & Spa in Solan, Himachal Pradesh where the charging station is operational. The hospitality brand intends to cover the popular driving-holiday route that runs through Himachal Pradesh, from Chandigarh via Kasauli and Solan to Shimla. All WelcomHeritage properties along these destinations will soon have EV charging stations.

In addition, EV charging stations will also be installed at WelcomHeritage Cheetahgarh Resort & Spa in Jawai, Rajasthan and WelcomHeritage Tadoba Vanya Villas Resort & Spa in Tadoba National Park, Maharashtra.
