'The Royal Marwari Jaipur Horse Show' postponed due to outbreak of Glanders disease among horses


-The event was being organized by The Indigenous Horse Society of India
-Horse show was slated to be held at Rajasthan Polo Club from March 3 to 5
-'Judges Clinic'  to be organized in Jaipur on 1 and 2 March


Jaipur, 27 February: 
The Royal Marwari Jaipur Horse Show, which was to be organized by The Indigenous Horse Society of India (IHSI) at Rajasthan Polo Club (RPC) Jaipur from March 3 to March 5, has been postponed. Owing to glanders, a disease spreading among horses, a notice has been issued to the Government of Rajasthan on the orders of the Government of India. According to this order, all programmess related to horses in the country have been banned in view of the current situation. However, the 'Judges Clinic' will be organized by IHSI on 1st and 2nd March 2023 at RPC Ground in Jaipur. This information was given by Mr. Raghuvendra Singh Dundlod, Vice President, Administration, IHSI.

Mr. Dundlod further said that he got full cooperation from the State Government regarding this event. In this context, he also held a meeting with the State Government during which the medical team was also present. But in view of the orders issued by the Government of India, this show has to be postponed for the time being. He further said that he has held talks with the Government of India to amend the Glanders protocol. The Rajasthan Government has also approved the proposal for this amendment. Mr. Dundlod urged all the horse breeders and people associated with horses in the country to join this campaign, so that together they can find a way forward. He said that whenever the show is approved, he will organize this show on a large scale in Jaipur and expressed hope that it will be organized every year.

It is to be recalled 'The Royal Marwari Jaipur Horse Show' was to be organized with the aim of documenting, promoting, preserving and educating horse owners of the horse breed in Jaipur. Around 125 to 150 Marwari horses were to participate in the show.
