Thiruvananthapuram, Feb.15: Industry Minister Shri P. Rajeeve will inaugurate the four-day expo being organised by the Plantation Directorate as the first major step to make Kerala Plantation a global brand while ensuring the progress of the labourers in the sector, here tomorrow.
The February 16-19 ‘Plantation Expo’ will be opened at 6 pm on the Sooryakanthi Exhibition Grounds at Kanakakunnu Palace. It will see the participation of registered plantations in the state, the cooperative societies in the sector, pertinent traders, distributors and providers of goods and services.
Shri VK Prasanth, MLA, will preside over the function where Smt Arya Rajendran, Mayor, Corporation, Thiruvananthapuram, will be the chief guest.
Shri Suman Billa, Principal Secretary, Industries, will welcome the gathering.
Shri A. P. M. Mohammed Hanish, Principal Secretary, Industries, will deliver the keynote address and Shri Ajit Kumar, Secretary, Labour and Skill Department, will give a special address on the occasion.
Shri S Harikishore, Director of Industries and Commerce and Special Officer of Plantation, Dr Reena KS, Ward Councillor, Shri Geromic George, District Collector; and Dr Santhosh Koshy Thomas, Managing Director, KINFRA, will also attend.
Apart from the products by plantations registered in the state, cooperative societies in the plantation sector, traders, distributors and service equipment dealers, there will be special stalls on display from the Central and State institutions in the sector.
Seminars led by experts on various topics including the problems and opportunities in the plantation sector will also be held on the sidelines of the event, which will feature 100 stalls showcasing the products and services of the participants.
Public entry is free for the expo on all days from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
