15th February, New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar inaugurated the 12th World Hindi Conference in Nadi, Fiji on Wednesday. Fiji's President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere was also present in the event, where EAM Jaishankar was warmly welcomed. The EAM addressed the World Hindi Conference and also visited the Sri Shiva Subrahmanya Swamy Temple in Nandi along with his parliamentary colleagues. The main theme of this year's conference is 'Artificial Intelligence from Hindi-Traditional Knowledge'. Many exhibitions related to the development of Hindi language will be organized at the venue of the conference.
World Hindi Conferences were conceptualized in 1973 by Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha. The first World Hindi Conference was organized on from January 10–12, 1975 in Nagpur, India. So far 11 World Hindi Conferences have been organized in different parts of the world. This time, during the conference, Hindi scholars from India and other countries will be honoured with Vishwa Hindi Samman for their special contribution in the field of Hindi.
This visit by the EAM and celebration of the Hindi language through the World Conference, not only showcases the global impact of Hindi but also sets ground for India’s growing relationship with the island country, Fiji. Since EAM Jaishankar landed in Fiji, he met with Fiji President, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere and Deputy Prime Minister, Biman Prasad. Both these meetings portrayed the growing relationship between the two countries and also opened further avenues of cooperation. EAM Jaishankar tweeted, “Discussed further advancing our long-standing ties through our development cooperation.”
