G20 Agriculture Working Group meeting begins in Indore, Heritage Walk organized at Rajwada Palace

Chief Minister said, 60 thousand farmers are doing natural farming in Madhya Pradesh

 

13th February, New Delhi: The first meeting of the Agriculture Working Group under the India’s G20 Presidency began on 13th February. On the first day of the meeting, a heritage walk was organized for the delegates at the historic Rajwada Palace in Indore. On this occasion, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan inaugurated an exhibition on millets. Millets and its value added food products as well as stalls related to animal husbandry and fisheries were the major attractions during the exhibition. Apart from representatives of 19 member countries of G20, 10 special invitees and 100 representatives of 10 international organizations are participating in this meeting. This three-day festival will be held till February 15.

 

Addressing the foreign guests, the Chief Minister said that India's tradition is ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ and all of us are one. This thinking has been practiced by India for several years. The Chief Minister said that 60 thousand farmers are doing natural farming in Madhya Pradesh and the efforts of such farmers will ensure that food reaches ever global citizen.

 

Earlier, during the heritage walk, the delegates were informed about the historical and cultural importance of Indore. During this walk, glimpses of India's spirituality, history, architecture, nature, art, food and people were also seen. Additionally, the presentation of a beautiful dance and classical music at Krishnapura Chhatri, Gopal Mandir and other important places mesmerised the delegates. The foreign guests participating in the heritage walk also tasted Indori Pohe and Jalebi.

 

Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will be present on the second day of the programme. Climate smart initiatives, adoption of climate smart technology by smallholder farmers as well as agricultural market information systems, wheat initiatives, agricultural risk management and food loss reduction will be discussed in detail during the three-day event that ends on February 15.
