~Dr. Aparna Jha with the experts' team surgically removes 10 fibroids, the largest with 10 cm diameter from the woman's uterus~
Bengaluru, 23 December 2022: The experts at Apollo Cradle & Children’s Hospital Brookefield Bangalore performed a successful laparoscopic myomectomy under the leadership of Dr. Aparna Jha, Sr consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist. The patient, Ms. Jyothi (Name Changed), had visited the hospital for a regular pre-conception consultancy when the doctor found several fibroids that would affect her chance at conceiving.
During the pre-conception consultancy, the patient had no visible symptoms of any underlying conditions. However, at the time of the check-up, the patient complained of having abnormal uterine bleeding. Upon routine examination lumps in the abdomen were later concluded to the uterine fibroids. The patient's uterus had a total of ten fibroids of large, moderate, and small sizes. Dr. Aparna Jha and her team performed a 3.5-hour long surgery to remove the fibroids of varying sizes from 10*8cm, 9*7cm, 5*4cm, and 3*3cm respectively.
Dr. Aparna Jha said “ I have been seeing frequent cases and complications related to Fibroids, however this particular case of Ms. Joythi was more complicated than others given the size and number of the fibroids present in the uterus. The fibroids covered almost 2/3rd of the patient's abdomen adding pressure endometrial cavity and Ostia that was contributing to infertility. A surgical laparoscopic myomectomy was the only feasible option. We were confident that the surgery could be performed without any complication with the kind of expertise and amenities in the center. Post-surgical examination showed satisfying results and the patient would be able to try to conceive without any future complications in the next 10 months.”
Ms. Jyothi has been struggling with conceiving for over a year and finds newfound hope for pregnancy through the surgery. “I had visited the hospital with a lot of hope and trust in Dr. Aparna and the expertise provided here, completely unaware of the number of fibroids that were causing complications. On diagnosis, Dr. Aparna Jha showcased ample support and was confident that such a surgery could be performed and I would be able to successfully conceive in the future.”, said Ms. Jyothi while reminiscing about her decision to get the surgery done at the center.
