~Launches a first-of-its-kind Crowd Funding Initiative to give a boost to Women entrepreneurs in the state~
22nd November 2022: On the occasion of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Britannia Marie Gold introduced a crowdfunding initiative in Tamil Nadu to support five Women entrepreneurs across the state, and garner more capital to grow their businesses. Britannia Marie Gold, a favorite tea-time companion in the state, has rolled out new packs featuring inspirational stories of these TN homemakers-turned-entrepreneurs. The new initiative will provide a platform for these women entrepreneurs to source crowdfunding for the expansion of their startups. The 5 women have been winners of the Britannia Marie Gold My Startup initiative that helped them start off on their entrepreneurial journeys, and are today poised for the next pivot of growth. The crowdfunding will go a long way toward supporting the same.
The Britannia Marie Gold My Startup initiative was set up in 2019 to enable homemakers across the country to be more and do more, and has till date funded 30 homemakers start off on their maiden entrepreneurial journeys. The contest has run three successful seasons, drawing over 3 million entries from the length and the breadth of the country. The Britannia Marie Gold My Startup initiative has seen participation from close to 9 lac homemakers in Tamil Nadu.
With the stories of these Women entrepreneurs on the packs, Britannia aims to inspire many more homemakers to start off on their entrepreneurial journeys. This is also the first time, the brand is leveraging the reach of its packs to provide an opportunity to Women entrepreneurs to grow on the back of a crowd-funding initiative.
Sharing the rationale behind this initiative, Mr. Amit Doshi, Chief Marketing Officer, Britannia, said, ‘’Women entrepreneurs have the potential to become one of the biggest driving forces in India’s growth story. Crowdfunding is about storytelling, communication, technology and consumer behaviour coming together. It’s not the amount of money raised that’s important but the impact that it creates. Tamil Nadu has the highest number of women entrepreneurs in the country. We are confident that the people of Tamil Nadu will come together to make this initiative a success. We plan to scale this up as a national initiative, post the launch in Tamil Nadu”.
