Tiptur: Tiptur Congress leader CB Shashidhara has a unique way to connect with the people. He is extensively touring the Tiptur assembly constituency to listen to them, understand their practical problems, and find ways to address them.
Shashidhara has so far toured villages in select eight-gramme panchayats and interacted with no less than 4,000 people. He has realised that people want a lot more work done in the education and health sectors besides taking up employment-generating activities. To address these problems, he is now preparing a blueprint.
Addressing a press conference in Tiptur on Saturday, Shashidhara, a strong aspirant for the Congress assembly ticket, shared the ground realities he has experienced during his interactions with the villagers.
Shashidhara said that he is satisfied with the study he is doing to understand the problems of the people. His visits, he said, are also helping the party to strengthen at the grassroots level.
The Congress leader said that he would be effectively responding to the problems being confronted by the people. "A special programme is being chalked out to pay special attention to the healthcare of women. Another programme to create employment opportunities for youth is also being prepared. "Both programmes would be a reality soon," he emphatically said.
He said that he is working at the grassroots level. The Congress party is strong in villages. A contingent of youth to serve the party is waiting for opportunities to work. But the challenge is to gain their confidence. "There are requests from several quarters for me to contest the elections. I have decided to understand the pulse of the people before contesting. I have already submitted an application to the party seeking a ticket. "I am confident that I would be the official nominee," he said.
He claimed to have actively participated in Mr. Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo.The photo exhibition he had organized has been appreciated by leaders of his party, he pointed out.
