Hyderabad, November 2022: Dr Vijay Kumar Kutala, Senior Faculty of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad and Chairman of Telangana State Allied & Healthcare Council has been elected as a “Fellow of the National Academy of Medical Sciences” (NAMS), New Delhi, in recognition of his significant contribution in the area of biomedical research. The fellowship and award of the scroll will be formally conferred to him during the annual convocation of the NAMS in Jaipur on November 12, 2022.
Dr Kutala has pioneered the concept of "Personalized Medicine" in India. His research in enhanced bioavailability and therapeutic efficacy of curcumin, the main ingredient of the household spice turmeric and its derivatives have opened new avenues not only in safety and efficacy but enhanced potency against Cancer, Inflammation and Bacterial infections. In an illustrious career spanning twenty-six years, he has published more than 176 scientific articles in journals of international repute. Dr Kutala is also a member of many national and international societies. Also, he served as a President of the Indian Academy of Biomedical Sciences, and Secretary General of the Federation of Asian Biotech Association.
NAMS is an eminent academy of medical sciences employing research in medical fields to cater for the unmet needs of the society and country. The award of Fellowship of the Academy is an honour bestowed to those scientist as an acknowledgement of their academic excellence and professional achievements.
