Bangalore, August 2022: East-West Seed celebrated its 40th anniversary at its Waluj plant on October 12th as a part of worldwide celebrations. A legacy of committed efforts to come to the assistance of smallholder farmers across the globe helps East-West Seed reach out to over 20 million farmers in 70 countries. East-West Seed has 60 vegetable crop categories offering close to 1000 improved varieties cultivated on 31 million hectares worldwide.
Speaking on the occasion, G C Shivakumar, General Manager, East-West seed India said, “For 40 years, we have provided quality, locally-adapted vegetable seeds and the proper techniques to help smallholder farmers improve their yields, earn more for their work and stay healthy. Take, for instance, our less-bitter bitter ( Better ) gourd or the half-long bitter gourd, which are highly suitable for health-conscious consumers. We have launched a novelty product - Butternut, in India, that is fast gaining acceptance in domestic and export markets. Butternut is a nutritious and versatile vegetable that suits Indian and continental cuisine.
