Jaipur, 3 October: The Bengali tradition of ‘Sindoor Khela’ will be organised by Shakti Women Organisation from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm on 4 October at Hotel Park Prime in Jaipur. ‘Sindoor Khela’ is held on the last day of Durga Puja after the conclusion of the ritual worship. Uniquely, this forthcoming programme of ‘Sindoor Khela’ is inclusive of all women and not only those who are married. It aims to celebrate Goddess Durga in all her forms and sisterhood.
Founder, Shakti Women Organisation, Ms Sonakshi Vashistha said that ‘Sindoor Khela’ is being organised for the 4th consecutive year by the organisation. It is an initiative to celebrate new cultures for the localites. The programme will see the presence of our members who are professionals from different fields. Irrespective of marital status women will come together to smear vermillion on each other as a symbol of sisterhood and bonding of women, all sisters. This idea of inclusiveness will welcome all women to enjoy and celebrate the festival.
The programme will begin with a brief introduction to the tradition of ‘Sindoor Khela’ and its significance. Following this ‘Puja’ will be conducted where the women will one-by-one perform ‘aarti’ and apply ‘sindoor’ on the idol’s forehead and feet. After this, all the women will apply ‘sindoor’ on each other and offer sweets. Thereafter, the members will present several dance performances. The programme will conclude with hi-tea.
