THRISSUR: Twenty-five underprivileged families of Valapad panchayat in Thrissur district of Kerala became the proud owners of new houses, built as part of Sneha Bhavanam initiative launched by Manappuram Foundation, the CSR arm of Manappuram Finance Ltd. K. Radhakrishnan, Minister for SC/ST Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs, handed over the keys to the beneficiaries at an event held at Manappuram headquarters at Valapad. V P Nandakumar, Managing Trustee of Manappuram Foundation, presided over the function.
Minister Radhakrishnan also announced the next phase of Sneha Bhavanam initiative during which 140 houses will be built and handed over to needy families selected from all the assembly constituencies in the state. He lauded the effort led by Mr Nandakumar and reiterated the need for private entities and organisations lending a helping hand to provide housing for all the homeless in the state.
The minister also distributed vegetable saplings to V.D Shinita, president of Valapad Gram Panchayat and released Manappuram Impact, annual edition of the foundation that chronicles the various CSR projects.
C C Mukundan MLA, VK David Master, District Panchayat President, Sushma Nandakumar, Lions Club District Governor, KC Prasad Block Panchyat President, PM Ahammed, Panchayath Member, George D. Das, CEO, Manappuram Foundation, Sanoj Herbert Chief PRO Manappuram Finance were also present.
