Health protection has to be given priority along with CSR initiatives”, says K. Padmakumar, IPS
Trivandrum, September 26, 2022: In connection with World Heart Day, KIMSHEALTH organized a cardiology medical camp for the policemen of Trivandrum. Held at the Nandavanam District Headquarters, this cardiology medical camp was conducted by KIMSHEALTH in coordination with the Kerala Police Association Thiruvananthapuram District Committee. The camp was inaugurated by ADGP K. Padmakumar.
“Undertaking activities to protect the public from Covid, the police force often forget to take care of their own health. By realizing that health protection is just as important as service activities, one has to participate in the medical camp and definitely follow it with treatment if needed,” said ADGP K. Padmakumar. He also appreciated KIMSHEALTH and Kerala Police Association Thiruvananthapuram District Committee for coming forward with such a medical camp as part of World Heart Day.
Due to constant duty engagements, policemen usually never get the time for routine health check-ups. This causes lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and blood pressure, as well as seriously affects the functioning of organs like the heart and the kidney, which could prove to be fatal. As a solution to these problems, KIMSHEALTH came ahead to check their E.C.G, blood sugar, blood pressure, and more. KIMSHEALTH has also offered treatments at a discounted rate for those who need further monitoring and treatment.
“We have to first understand that our lifestyle is the major problem for such diseases,” said KIMSHEALTH Vice Chairman Padmashri Dr.G. Vijayaraghavan. Unless we change our lifestyle, we will not be able to resist these ailments. He further said that in today’s living conditions, it is a challenge to change one’s lifestyle and especially in the case of policemen, who will have to check the extent of its practicality. He also said that a force that works with social commitment should first give priority to their own health and make use of medical camps as well.
District police head G. Sparjankumar IPS and Dr. Dhinesh David, consultant cardiologist, KIMSHEALTH were the chief guests. G. Sparjankumar IPS said that along with problems that have existed since birth, issues that arise due to their job are a part of a policeman’s life, and often, they do not check it and get it treated. He also mentioned that policemen should at least pay heed to such medical camps and attend them.
Kerala Police Association Thiruvananthapuram City President J. Chandrababu presided over the event. D.H.Q Commandant D. Ashok Kumar, Kerala Police Association State Committee President R. Prashanth, and Nandavanam Police Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Sangeeth Shah shared their greetings. T. S.
