Jaipur, 25 August: The member of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) and MP Rajsamand, Diya Kumari has written a letter to Rajasthan Chief Minister, Shri Ashok Gehlot to send the recommendation of the State Government to make Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary into a tiger reserve at the earliest. Despite having sent a letter prior to this, the State Government has been continuously delaying the recommendation.
MP Diya Kumari informed that on 10 November 2021 the NTCA had sent the Feasibility Assessment Report to the State Government for appropriate action so that the process of declaring Kumbhalgarh and Todgarh Wildlife sanctuaries as tiger reserves could be undertaken. The State Government has to take advance action on the report and send it to the Ministry of Wildlife and Environment along with its recommendation. However, so far no action has been taken on the matter by the Rajasthan Government.
The MP further said that the tiger reserve will give a boost to local employment, tourism, and biological diversity, as well as fulfil the demand of the residents of the region. Keeping this in mind, the proposal to declare Kumbhalgarh Raoli-Todgarh region as a tiger reserve should be acted upon urgently.
