Kottayam: One of the most popular universities in Kerala, Mahatma Gandhi University today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC). The objective of this MoU is to offer students of Mahatma Gandhi University (MG University) a wide range of disciplinary programmes in commerce accredited by ACCA as part of their skill enrichment. The MoU was signed between Dr. Prakash Kumar B, Registrar - MG University, and Mr. Shone Babu, Head of Partnerships, ISDC and was presided by Dr. Sabu Thomas-Vice Chancellor-MG University, Ms. Teresa Jacobs-Executive Director-Learning, ISDC and Dr. Robinet Jacob-Director-IQAC, MG University. ISDC has been working closely with larger number of Indian Universities and Educational Institutions to bridge the skill gap across all sectors.
The MoU will enable MG University to offer ACCA qualification along with its undergraduate B.Com degree programmes. This ACCA accredited B.Com programme will provide the students of the MG University with the opportunity to avail exclusive paper exemptions towards the ACCA Qualification. Along with the ACCA Accreditation to B.Com; the MoU also opens opportunities for many global qualifications, accreditations and memberships in various domains such as Analytics, Data Science, Cyber Security..etc. ISDC has been working with University of Calicut, University of Kannur and many leading Autonomous Colleges in Kerala on this front for many years now.
The three-year undergraduate programme in Commerce integrated with ACCA will equip the students with the skill sets and expertise to find, evaluate, and resolve the global industry-centric issues and will help them get access to an in-depth understanding of industry-oriented finance and analytic tools, strategies, and management at an international level through intensive training sessions and webinars.
ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is the global body for professional accountants and ACCA Qualification is widely recognized across the globe and especially among the employers.
Talking about the partnership, Dr. Sabu Thomas, Vice-Chancellor, MG University said, “Our scholastic partnership with the International Skill Development Corporation (ISDC) intends to offer our students the opportunity to study a global qualification along with their regular graduate programme. We believe this will enable our students to compete and gain valuable expertise in the global field of commerce, finance and management and join the global workforce.”

Allowing the students to pursue global qualifications , memberships like ACCA and many others along with their degree, the partnership will cater skills and expertise with the aim to help them in building global profiles, expertise and skills. The ACCA integrated program will also enable them to avail exclusive exemptions for ACCA making their journey to a global qualification easier.”
