Kolkata, 13th July, 2022: P.G. Diploma in Heritage Management and Conservation:
Introduction:
The Heritage Cell of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University Technology (MAKAUT), WB was established with the vision of ensuring the future of heritage study in India. The Heritage Cell wishes to conduct interdisciplinary studies in conservation, tourism and archaeology to safeguard our tangible heritage, with the help of writing articles, arranging for lectures and introducing courses. The Cell aims to bring technical aspects of heritage study like chemical conservation, and structural conservation along with theoretical aspects under one academic department. For that purpose, the Heritage Cell invites online application from different candidates for admission to One-year P.G. Diploma course in Heritage Management and Conservation for the academic session 2022-23.
COURSE OUTCOME:
It has been strongly felt that a good number of scholars, museum personnel & heritage enthusiasts are needed to build a strong foundation in the technical and theoretical aspects of the technology of conservation. There has been a good demand in this field for a diploma course in Heritage Management and Conservation to train up the existing workforce.
On completion of the course, students will be able to:
· Provide quality education to the professionals in Heritage and Tourism studies.
· Conduct interdisciplinary studies in conservation, tourism and archaeology.
· Design, develop, test and evaluate modern archaeological investigation and conservation techniques using the latest technology.
· Develop technological skills by attending practical classes.
· Strengthen writing skills and pursue academic research in archaeological and heritage study.
Students selected will be accommodated against vacant seats and as per rules.

ELIGIBILITY::
A. The minimum qualification is Bachelor in science or Bachelor in Arts degree from a recognized University in any of the following subjects: Archaeology, History, Anthropology, Museology, Geography, Sanskrit, Art, Chemistry and any allied subjects with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Those having technical skills (Technicians/ Architects/ Engineers etc.) can also join.
B. In-service/deputed candidates from a relevant organization/institution.

Full Marks: 100 marks/ 100 Credits
Semester 1: 50 Marks/50 Credits (2 report based assignments with 25 Marks/ 25 credits each)
Semester 2: 50marks/50 Credits (2 report based assignments with 25 Marks/ 25 credits each)
Assessment:
The examinations shall be conducted by the University’s internal and external examiners. The Diploma will also be awarded by the University.
Fee Structure:
Rs. 5000/- per semester
Total course fees Rs.10,000/-
Candidates shall have to bear the fees and necessary expenses likely to be incurred during the project work, field trips, and practical work separately.
Session Timings:
The session of the course shall correspond to the regular academic session of the University.
