Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, 13 July 2022: With the onset of monsoon triggering seasonal flu cases and the number of Covid-19 cases are on the rise in the stateAndhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed officials to focus on vaccinating the vulnerable groups at the earliest. During the review meeting chaired by CM Jagan Mohan Reddy at his camp office in Tadepalli, the officials briefed the Chief Minister that the positivity rate is at 10%, with 69 people admitted in hospital.

In the last 45 days, the positivity rate has been on an increasing trend, but the hospitalization is lesser. Over 110% of the priority group and overall, 87% of them have been vaccinated. The Chief Minister instructed officials to vaccinate all the eligible beneficiaries by the end of July. To handle the inflow of patients at the hospitals, the CM also reviewed the vacancies at the PHCs and CHCs. The Chief Minister has directed officials to fill all the vacant positions before August 1 as all the MLAs will be on rounds and a check will be maintained on hospitals across state. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy said that over the last few months over 40,000 people have been recruited to ensure proper treatment to people and give them the best care.

Improving the medical infrastructure in the state, four new medical colleges will be ready by December 31, while an old medical hospital will be ready by September 30 after renovation. On priority, five medical colleges are being set up – Vizinagaram, Rajamundry, Eluru, Nandyal and Machilipatnam.

Speaking on speeding up the recruitment process the Chief Minister said that there should be three things that needs to be fixed at the hospitals for the people to receive proper aid.

“Medicines, staff, and Infrastructure at hospitals – three things that any government needs to focus on to cater to the public. Monitor these issues, rectify them, and see how everything falls into place. Ensure that the recruitment process is taken up on war-footing and all the hospitals are equipped in terms of medicines and staff,” the Chief Minister, said.

In addition, from August 1, beneficiaries of Aarogyasri can avail the virtual account benefit, where the Aarogya sri amount will be sent to beneficiaries and then that will be utilized by the hospital staff to clear bills. The beneficiary will give a signed consent that the money credited by government can be utilized to clear the hospital bills while the Aarogya Asara will be credited directly into the beneficiary’s savings account and not the virtual account.

As a matter of fact, during discharge, while the hospital takes one consent form for the implementation of the Aarogya Sri and Aarogya Asara benefit, Aarogya Mitras (could be ANMs or ASHA workers) will visit the beneficiary’s residences personally and handover the discharge letters physically. They will also take feedback from the beneficiaries on the quality of treatment and mainly on the corruption. As of date, over 25 lakh beneficiaries have been identified to whom the Aarogya Sri and Aarogya Asara discharge letters will be delivered.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy took serious cognizance of curbing corruption in the process of availing the Aarogya Sri and Aarogya Asara benefits. The Chief Minister instructed officials to take feedback from the beneficiaries at all junctures to ensure no corruption seeps into the system. Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy also instructed the officials to publicize 14400 helpline number, which is for ACB, along with 104 number to curb corruption.

“On all the consent forms and discharge letters, ensure that the 14400 number is included. On all the vehicles, ensure along with 104, the ACB number 14400 number also is printed. Let there be no corruption in the system,” the CM directed the officials.
