Jaipur: The 17th edition of the world-renowned Jaipur Jewellery Show (JJS) will begin from tomorrow (24 December) at the Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Center in Sitapura. The Chief Guest for the opening ceremony will be Director General, DGFT and Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Mr. Amit Yadav (IAS). Chairman, GJC, Mr. Ashish Pethe and Regional Chairman – Rajasthan, GJEPC, Mr. Nirmal Kumar Bardiya will be the Guests of Honour on the occasion. The theme for the 4-day JJS is ‘It’s time to Sparkle’. This was informed by the Chairman, JJS Organizing Committee, Mr. Vimal Chand Surana.
Honorary Secretary, JJS Organizing Committee, Mr. Rajiv Jain informed that JJS 2021 will witness 800 booths. Out of these, 200 booths will display gemstones and 500 booths will exhibit jewellery. Similarly, there are 100 booths displaying allied machinery, costume jewellery and artefacts.
He further informed that this year 70% of the booths at JJS are designer booths. This will be a visual treat for the visitors. Around 15-20 new designers of the Jaipur Jewellery and Design Festival will be given booths free of cost. There will also be a stall of ‘Museum of Gem and Jewellery Federation’. There are 80 new participants and some national brands are also participating in the show.
Mr. Jain further informed that this year too, the JJS will be a complete show with diamonds, colour stones, precious metals - silver, gold, base metals-carving and beads. The exposition will also cover jewellers and gemstone dealers, jewellery institutes, publications apart from others. There will be separate sections for jewellery and gemstones. This categorization will make it convenient for the customers to search out the product of their choice.
While shedding light on the Jaipur Jewellery Design Festival (JJDF), JJS Spokesperson, Mr. Ajay Kala said that to celebrate and promote designers in all its glory, Jaipur Jewellery Show is hosting JJDF for the third time. The festival will have multifarious activities including product display by eminent designer brands, an art gallery to display gemstones artistically, seminars and panel discussions, virtual display of jewellery etc. along with library, cafeteria, and live music to give a festive look.
He further informed that this year JJDF will give a platform to the students of 5 to 6 prominent designing institutes where these budding designers will display their creations. It will also have women centric activities where the artwork of selected women jewellers and artisans will be displayed in a very aesthetic manner. The Organizing committee of JJS has decided to felicitate women designers for their remarkable contribution to the trade through their skill and work.
