New Delhi : Over 100 national shooters volunteers have come forward to augment Rodic Consultants’ efforts with an aim to combat oxygen shortage in the state of Uttar Pradesh. Among the renowned shooters who have joined the fight against COVID-19 are Asutosh Dwiwedi, (UP), Pardeep Kumar Singh (Haryana), Tabish Ahmed (UP), Rahul Soni (Delhi), Monu Kumar (Delhi), Harpreet Sing (Delhi), Shalender (UP). The initiative comes after Raj Kumar, CMD, Rodic Consultants and a national level renowned shooter urged the shooters community to support the fight against COVID. Rodic has developed a first-of its-kind digital portal for oxygen monitoring in the state of Uttar Pradesh, to ensure a timely supply of oxygen in the state. The unique platform will regularly monitor and track realtime location of vehicles so that oxygen reaches hospitals without any delay, especially during emergencies. The company is leveraging the ‘hub and spoke’ model to streamline the oxygen supply. The model requires intensive manpower to ensure a hassle-free supply across the state. The shooters are conducting data gathering and entry, GPS Web application monitoring, oxygen tanker location tracking and monitoring with Regional Transport Office and Medical Department of Uttar Pradesh. They are present at the oxygen manufacturing facilities where the tracking devices are installed and enabled. These devices ensure minimum turnaround times and facilitates end-to-end coordination between multiple departments for seamless movement of oxygen tankers. “These are unprecedented time as we are witnessing a sharp surge in coronavirus cases across the country. Collaboration will be the key to winning the battle against COVID-19. As Rodic we are contributing by setting up command centre for oxygen movement across the country, like we did successfully along with the UP Government for the state of Uttar Pradesh. In this endeavour we required volunteers to support us for efficient management of this entire process. I had appealed all my fellow shooters across India to come forward and support us as volunteers. In another path breaking initiative to streamline the supply of oxygen in Uttar Pradesh, Rodic Consultants has strategized and implemented a ‘hub and spoke’ model. In this model the state in first divided into five regions route optimization by leveraging air, rail and road. About 12 aircrafts have been deployed with the help of Government of U.P, to optimize the supply chain and tackle this spike in demand. Under the model, there are five hubs Lucknow, Kanpur, Modinagar, Ghaziabad and Varanasi whereas Gorakhpur and Bareilly are functioning as cohubs. Each hub comprises 5-6 cities. The spokes are 57 medical colleges across Uttar Pradesh that have witnessed the increasing demand for oxygen. This model is flexible to allow modifications in case of any fluctuations in oxygen demand. Creation of an additional hub requires approximately 9-10 hours of turnaround time. The model leverages multi-modal transport integration to enable timely oxygen supply. Once the ‘Oxygen Express’ trains reach Uttar Pradesh, the IAF planes will transport the oxygen to destinations where demand has originated. The model also requires a total of 84 vehicles to escort tankers, 168 drivers and 20 plan managers to ensure a hassle- free supply across the state. The Phase 1 will use three major routes- Burjora-Ghaziabad, Durgapur-Kanpur and BurnpurKanpur to supply oxygen. New routes will be added in the subsequent phases in the case of the surge in demand. The model has drastically reduced cycle span to ensure timely oxygen supply. For instance, the supply of oxygen from Gorakhpur to Varanasi requires a total of 9-10 hours. “Mitigating inefficiency in supply chain and ensuring its optimization is the prerequisite to ensure timely oxygen supply to hospitals. We are leveraging ‘hub and spoke’ model that has tremendously reduced turnaround time to ensure hassle-free and timely supply of oxygen across the state of UP” Raj Kumar, Chairman & Managing Director, Rodic Consultants Pvt. Rodic Consultants is mulling to deploy this unique oxygen monitoring system to other states as well including Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab & Delhi to tackle the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
