Jaipur: Over the last few decades, India has transformed itself into an ‘information intensive society’ and ICTs have been significantly incorporated into the academic landscape of the country. The Covid-19 pandemic adversely impacted the education sector. During this time technology played a critical role in enabling students and teachers to stay connected, engaged and motivated. This was stated by MP Rajsamand, Diya Kumari at the 143rd Assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) at Madrid in Spain.
Throwing light on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the MP said that the policy proposes the revision and revamping of all aspects of the education structure while building upon India’s traditions and value systems. The the interplay of education and technology is also an integral component of the NEP.
Diya Kumari also highlighted the ‘National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology’ (NMEICT) to leverage the potential of ICT to make the best quality content accessible to all learners in the country, free of cost. She further underlined the PM eVIDYA initiative which was initiated as a part of Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan and unifies all efforts related to digital/online/on-air education to enable multi-mode access to education.
The MP emphasized the need to convert the pandemic into an opportunity to fundamentally transform the existing education system, while at the same time building a bridge to a re-imagined education system.
