CHIEF MINISTER INAUGURATES EXHIBITION ON MAHATMA GANDHI AT JKK

Jaipur : Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Ashok Gehlot inaugurated the painting exhibition ‘Mohandas se Mahatma’ on the 'Life Journey of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi' in Sudarshan Gallery at Jawahar Kala Kendra (JKK) today. The exhibition has been conceptualized by MLA Niwai Piplu, Shri Prashant Bairwa. The artist of the exhibition is Shri Chandra Prakash Gupta of Devdas Arts, Jaipur.


The CM walked around the exhibition, appreciated the artworks and said that the exhibition presents several moments of Gandhi’s life which have been shown for the first time. The large painting of Gandhi makes one feel as if he is watching us all. Everyone should read Gandhi’s biography at least once in their life. It will change the very concept of their lives.

The exhibition also showcases the world's largest standing painting on canvas of Gandhi. It is a 6 ft by 11 ft painting that took 6 months to prepare. It has been created by artist and Associate Professor, Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Annapurna Shukla.

Fire Art Exhibition by Ajit Kumar

Also, on the occasion of Wildlife Week, Principal Secretary Tourism, Art & Culture and Director General, JKK, Ms Gayatri Rathore inaugurated the ‘Fire Art Exhibition’ by artist, Ajit Kumar in Surekh Gallery at JKK today. As many as 20 paintings themed on wildlife are on display at the exhibition. A special 16-feet painting created by 7 artists is also being showcased spreading the message of wildlife conservation. Apart from Ajit Kumar, the artists are – Harish Chandra Mehrania, Kadir Khan, Rashmi Arya, Veer Narayan Arya, Nawal Kishor Mishra, and Shakshi Khandelwal. The exhibition is open for public viewing till 7 October from 11 am to 7 pm daily. Additional Director General (Admin.), JKK, Dr Anuradha Gogiya was also present on the occasion.

Ms Gayatri Rathore appreciated the artworks by the artists and said that the exhibition showcases a wonderful collection of fire paintings which is a novel and unique concept.

Mr Ajit Kumar said that he got the concept of creating fire art from the kitchen. He purchases blow torches from abroad to prepare his paintings and obtains special plywood for the painting. Each artwork takes 1-2 months to prepare. The exhibition also showcases paintings of wildlife using charcoal on canvas. Visitors can also get their picture clicked at the selfie point which is a 3D tiger created by artist Harish Chandra Mehrania.

It is to be noted that Jawahar Kala Kendra encourages new artists and modern art forms to be showcased through exhibitions and performances. The space triggers people’s creativity and unleashes their imagination.
