Souk Madinat Jumeirah will continue to shine the spotlight on sustainable domestic food production this week, ahead of the closing weekend of its annual Homegrown@Souk Food Festival. Taking place until Saturday April 3, visitors can expect additional masterclasses for both adults and kids, in addition to local produce available to diners during the final days of Souk Restaurant Week.
Encouraging an ‘act local, think global’ approach to dining out, shopping and eating at home, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is adding further reason to head down to the traditional Middle Eastern marketplace and sample delights from across its leading restaurants with the added appeal of gifted bags of locally-grown produce, while stocks last.
During the concluding days of the popular Souk Restaurant Week, which sees venues such as Folly by Nick and Scott, The Meat Co., Publique, Taverna, Trader Vic’s, Anar, Americano, Usha, Trattoria, The Noodle House, Maria Bonita, Perry & Blackwelder’s, and Al Makan, serving specially curated menus inspired by locally sourced ingredients, diners will also be provided vegetables and other items from VeggiFoods, a UAE-based agri-technology startup, all harvested within 80 kilometers of Souk Madinat Jumeriah.
Due to popular demand, Souk Madinat Jumeriah has added two further masterclasses to its week-long schedule, providing adults and kids the opportunity to learn culinary and beverage mixing skills from the professionals. The additional classes include:
Pasta making for kids at Trattoria on Friday, April 2 at 12-noon: It’s a party at Trattoria! Children will be able to make their own pasta, right from beating eggs, to kneading the dough and using tomato sauce from VeggiFoods produce, to rolling their pasta. Once cooked, youngsters can choose their favorite sauce before devouring their handmade creation.
Mixed beverage-making masterclass at Americano on Saturday, April 3 at 4pm: Guests can learn the art behind different blends through a mixed beverage masterclass at Americano, the trendy hangout spot.
