Free clinics at the Global Ayurveda Festival attract visitors The public offered free medicines and treatment at GAF

Thiruvananthapuram Dec 2: The free clinics became a major attraction at the ongoing Global Ayurveda Festival (GAF) in the city.

These clinics adjacent to the Ayurveda Expo Pavilion offer free medicines and treatment for a wide range of ailments, from obesity to heart disease.

Consultations of expert doctors in 25 specialities are available at the free medical camp. Medicines worth Rs 15 lakh are being made available for free distribution here.

Notable among them is Sridhariyam Eye Hospital's mobile eye clinic, which offers free registration, consultation by expert doctors, tests and treatment.

Arranged in an air-conditioned bus, the clinic has two doctors, two optometrists and a pharmacist.

The mobile eye clinic was started in 2020 and has also visited states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Goa.

In addition to rheumatic diseases such as arthritis and rheumatoid, the free clinics have facilities for examining bone and joint disorders, fractures, psoriasis, bacterial-fungal skin infections, eczema, jaundice, hepatitis, fatty liver and obesity.

The GAF also has a male and female infertility clinic, a speciality clinic for diabetes and related diseases, and ophthalmology clinics.

Information on detoxification for snakebites, women's mental health, and vacuum therapy that claims to reduce belly fat in 10 minutes are available here.

Those who need follow-up treatment can also approach them and avail themselves of the facilities.

Additionally, the clinics have showcased the medication and treatment required during different stages of life - from foetal growth and prenatal period to geriatric care needed during the twilight of life.

This is the largest Ayurveda Expo Pavilion in the world, spread over 250,000 sq ft, with more than 700 stalls, including those of the AYUSH department and various institutions.

There are pavilions of 20 Ayurvedic colleges at the expo, which has stalls of all major AYUSH institutes of the country.
